Communication With A Child

HOW DO YOU CORRESPOND WITH YOUR SPONSORED STUDENT?
You will receive a photograph, a personal biography, a Christmas note, a thank you note, and a student progress report during the course of the year. Other correspondence may also be sent. The students are more likely to write other personal notes if they first hear from their sponsors. All correspondence, whether from sponsor or student, must be filtered through New Life Foundation for security and accountability purposes.
  1. All the correspondence to the student or from the students or even from the parent or guardian shall be filtered through out Students Sponsorship Programme Department (NLF-SSP). This will hinder our people from being tempted to ask for things from our sponsors. Asking for things or money from the sponsors is highly forbidden and we never tolerate such behaviour from Parents/guardian and or any of our students.
  2. The letter or a free will gift from you will be given to your sponsored child and he or she will write a thank you letter back to you with a check list of the entire gift you have sent to her/him. We will confirm by having the signature that he/she has received everything you sent to him/her. We will report back to you on everything you sent to him/her. This will be the confirmation of the arrival and deliverance of your correspondence to your sponsored child.
  3. We do help those small children in corresponding to you but we make sure at least they sign their names in that letter or draw a picture. We write the words from their heart. We ask them what to write and we help them write and then we let them sign their names.
  4. All the correspondence must be sent to New Life Foundation address and NEVER to the sponsored child home address. The office will try to keep your address and never give it to your sponsored child parents or guardians. If by any means they get it PLEASE don't ever communicate directly back to them, just communicate to them through out Students Sponsorship Programme Department (NLF-SSP). This will help both of us keep the relationship for long time. We know how much you are sacrificing your life to do what you are doing and so we don't want to take it for granted or be ungrateful to you.
  5. If you wish you can send a Birthday gift, an Easter or Christmas gift. MONEY can be given to your child and we will make sure that the entire money goes to your child unless you allow him/her to share the gift with other children in the centre. We will take the picture of the gifts he or she bought (this will totally depend on their choices) and send the photo with his/her thank you letter.
  6. When sending any parcel to your sponsored child, please do not write the value on top. Just write "DONATED GIFTS, OR NO COMMERCIAL VALUE". Please send the letter separately showing the list of the things you have sent and indicate it is a donation and there is no commercial value. This will help us to be exempted customs and duty.
  7. In some cases sponsors may want to bless all students or send a gift to the entire student body. In such case please indicate your preferences or you may decide to give us freedom to make a decision on what will be the best thing for all. In such a case we have been able to buy things like bed sheets and covers for all or new mosquito nets.
  8. If God will lead you NOT to sponsor a child BUT support New Life Foundation specific project, this will be highly appreciated and we will be very happy to receive any support from you.
  9. If God leads you to be only our PRAYER PARTNER AND SUPPORTER, this will also be highly appreciated. We will please ask you to communicate to us so that we put you among our prayer supporters group and in our mailing list too.
THINGS YOU CAN TELL YOUR SPONSORED CHILD:
  • About your home - what it is like, where you live (an island, a big city, small town, village, farm etc.) family, friends, pets.
  • Your church, holidays, customs or culture you have.
  • Things you eat, fun things you do, animals, your country history etc.
  • Prayer requests - Share a Scripture verse you love, your Bible hero.
  • Anything you think will benefit your friendship.
Please remember to be very careful with any kind of detail when communicating to your child. For example, don't over fantasize your vacation and other similar experiences. This will make them create a picture in their mind that they must come to your country to get all those things, or their country is not as good as yours. We don't want for them to draw funny pictures in their minds. THINGS YOU CAN SEND TO YOUR CHILD:
You can send things like Bible books, drawing books, water colour pads, stickers, crayons, coloured pencils, flute, balls, water colour pints, cars, flash cards, shirts, shorts, clothes, t-shirts, pencils, your photo or family photos, devotional books for children, story books, brushes, games, Medicine, vitamins, food supplements. (Anything you think is good and pleasant to your sponsored child) Stickers etc.
