Background: Debora is a pastor's child, living at the Manyara Region. Her father is a missionary of the Hadzabe tribe. The people of this tribe live by hunting and fruit collection. They do not cultivate the land. Life is so hard in this area; her parents can not afford to pay the school fees. Deborah's father was the one who coordinated for the children from Hadzabe to be enrolled at Fountain of Hope. Deborah's father considers the chance for her daughter to be at this school as a "golden chance". Deborah has two older brothers and two older sisters. She likes to draw pictures and play with toy cars.

Background:Eliwaza is the only daughter to her father and her mother who have passed away. Eliwaza comes from the Hadzabe tribe. This tribe is one of the primitive tribes of Tanzania. They live in the bush and they depend on honey, fruits, and some seeds from bush, birds and if they are really lucky they may end up by getting an animal. In March 2006 this place was heavily affected by the drought and there was a great scarcity of food. Most people were starving as up to April 2006. Eliwaza likes to play netball and learn english.

Background:Tunu lives with her mother who has legs problems (can not walk she only uses a wheelchair). Her mother got an accident while she was pregnant with Tunu. The man responsible for pregnancy ran away after Tunu's mother got an accident. Luckily, she asked the doctors to do whatever they could to save her and her baby in the womb, something that happened. Tunu is the only child and she lives with her mother. Her mother works in the disability office but she does not have enough income to support her child at Fountain of Hope. She came to Fountain of Hope when she was in grade one. Tunu is one of the bright students in her class.

When Prosper arrived at the Fountain of Zoe, he had gangrene in two of his fingers, both fingers had to be amputated. Prosper comes from a village called Mikocheni, which is known for its sugar factory.

Background: Joy's mother (Rose Mathayo) came to us as a house helper after she was sent away by her father. We finally realized that she has run away from their family because she was pregnant of about three months. Josephine took her for a test and then promised to help her. She went to see the boy who was to be the father of Joy and the boy denied having a relationship with her. She stayed in our home and finally she was enrolled at Fountain of Joy while she was pregnant. After delivery, we placed Joy in the Fountain of Zoe. Her mother has now completed the two years course and we are planing together with her to be given a loan and finally we will give Joy back to her after she gets the sponsor and after she is well established. We are encouraging her to keep in contact with the Fountain of Joy. She is now a very commited Christian.

Life is so tough and they have no schools or churches. They move within their local area depending on the availability of honey, birds, seeds or some animals.
